Trained in EMDR
Ages 18+, Individual and Couple Services
It is my desire as a therapist to join you on your journey toward health and wholeness.
My unique background gives me an array of life experiences, education, and training that enable me to work with a diverse population of individuals ages 18+ and couples. I value openness, transparency, diversity and each individual’s intrinsic value.
l opened Chrysalis Counseling Center in 2022 after several years in private practice in the Des Moines Metro Area. The chrysalis is much like therapy, a sacred space to slow down, to feel safe, to understand, to grow, and most importantly, to be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
My areas of focus as a therapist include trauma, abuse, anxiety, life transition, spiritual and religious abuse/ trauma, relationships, and couples therapy. I use a variety of therapy modalities to help each client navigate the challenges and circumstances they are facing. These include EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and a Strengths-Based Approach. I am an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) trained therapist. EMDR focuses on helping individuals process and heal from stressful and adverse life experiences as well as decrease negative beliefs and symptoms associated with depression and anxiety.
I also have additional training in emotionally destructive relationships and spiritual abuse. In these areas I am guided by the work of Leslie Vernick, Dan Allender, Diane Langberg, Andrew Bauman, and others. Navigating a path toward freedom from the pain of any type of abuse is both terrifying and liberating. I work with my clients to help enable them to see their intrinsic value and begin to build a life that is congruent with that value.
I enjoy working with individuals from all spiritual backgrounds. I also provide Christian counseling and enjoy integrating faith and scripture for those desiring that approach.
I received my undergraduate degree from North Central University and my Masters in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. My background includes ministry, business, stay at home mom, and an Army Brat childhood crossing state lines and even the ocean a few times. Now I am proud and happy to call Iowa home. I live in the metro area with my husband, two teenagers and the boss of our house, our dog Nala. I love family time, travel, reading and decorating. It would be my honor to join you on your growth journey.

Trained in EMDR
Ages 17+, Individual and Bilingual Services
I am a bilingual English/ Spanish therapist for those who are struggling with life transitions, relationship difficulties, anxiety, and or stressful life experiences. I welcome clients who may prefer a native Spanish speaker on this journey. While I welcome anyone to my practice, I also want to highlight the fact I have over 10+ years of experience in the community working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. These experiences have offered me a unique lens and ability to remain compassionate around issues of acculturation and adaptation.
I feel uniquely qualified to work with individuals who are experiencing difficulties related to recent migration, first-generation related experiences, or discrimination. In relation to life transitions, I am particularly interested in first-generation college students and new college graduates/ early professionals transitioning to the world of work.
I strive to provide a compassionate, safe, and judgment free space. I look forward to working with you.

Ages 5+, Individual and Family Therapy Services
My passion in life is helping children and adolescents find what helps them feel like their best selves, so that they can focus on finding joy and success in their daily lives. I believe that every individual holds the potential to lead a fulfilling, joyful life, and that my role as a counselor is to provide a supportive and empathetic space where my clients can thrive, grow, and discover their own resilience.
I specialize in working with children and adolescents dealing with a spectrum of challenges, including emotion and behavior regulation, depression, anxiety, school-related issues, bullying, attention and impulse control, family and life transitions, interpersonal relationship issues, self-harm, and trauma. I have previously served children, adolescents, and families across a variety of settings, including working in a psychiatric residential facility for children, a community non-profit, and in public education as a school counselor.
In my therapeutic approach with children, I integrate play therapy and expressive arts techniques, creating a safe and engaging environment where young clients can explore, express, and process their emotions. I find these creative, child-centered methods offer an authentic and approachable way for young ones to connect with their feelings and build coping skills.
For my adolescent and adult clients, I take a different approach, primarily utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help them navigate emotional regulation, develop effective coping skills, and enhance their interpersonal relationships.
I received my Master’s in Counseling in 2022 from Drake University and my B.S. in Psychology in 2018 from Drake University, with a specialization in Behavior Analysis of Developmental Disabilities.

As a therapist I strive to create a space for clients that is safe, empathetic, respectful, and non-judgmental. I enjoy bringing humor into sessions on occasion as I believe laughter is a great way to connect with others and can be therapeutic. I value and care about each of my clients, it is an honor to be a part of their lives.
I work with couples, and individuals 14 years of age and older. If clients want to incorporate a spiritual perspective into counseling, I am happy to work with them through a Biblical perspective.
My clinical interests are infertility, miscarriages, marriage counseling, trauma, anxiety, phobias, OCD, eating disorders, the rural community, and adjustments to life’s transitions.

Ages 16+, Individual and Couple Services
My goal is to provide a safe and open therapeutic space for clients to explore any experience or situation. I strive to be transparent and honest in our communication while helping you navigate painful and difficult life experiences as you gain strength and direction to move forward with confidence again. I aim to walk beside you in this process of exploration, healing, and growth.
My clinical interests include anxiety, depression, stress, existential and spiritual crises, work or career-related challenges, life transitions, men’s issues, and relationship difficulties. I draw from a variety of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Christian counseling, as well as techniques for improving communication and coping skills. While I enjoy working with individuals from all spiritual and philosophical backgrounds, I can also provide counseling that is Christian-focused and scripturally informed, depending on your comfort level and needs.
I am currently a counseling intern working towards a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, attending Liberty University as a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling student. I will complete my master’s program in August of 2025. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Science in History from Iowa State University, as well as a Master of Arts in Business Management and Leadership from Liberty University.
My road to becoming a counselor has not been direct. I spent over a decade working in financial leadership roles until I realized I wanted a career where I could have more personal and deep connections and help others navigate life’s struggles and fulfill their potential. I utilize my experience in the financial world to help clients navigate difficult work situations and explore different career options.
I am happy to call Iowa home! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children and, of course, playing with our puppy Willie. I would be greatly honored to walk beside you in any part of your personal journey. Feel free to reach out to me via email to schedule a consultation.

Ages 12+, Individual and Family Therapy Services
Our experiences play a big role in shaping who we are and how we see the world. By exploring and rethinking these experiences, we can gain new insights and find a path to a happier, healthier life.
I have a BS in psychology from the University of North Dakota, an MBA from the Tippie Business School, University of Iowa, and a dynamic background in helping people succeed.
My passion is centered on working to improve wellbeing – both professionally and as a volunteer. As a mediator for more than two decades, I’ve helped people resolve conflicts and move forward with clarity and forgiveness. I have also been a business executive, both owning a consulting company and leading agencies providing mental health and disability services, strengthening families, and improving health. Serving on the board of West Des Moines Community Schools has given me a deep understanding of the new pressures facing families, young people, teachers, and staff in our post-pandemic era.
I love board games, quilting, gardening, riding my bike, and spending time with my three (adult) kids. I’m super curious – and love learning new things. I am seeing clients of all ages and abilities and am excited to work together to rewrite your story, highlighting your strengths and resilience for a brighter, more fulfilling future.
